The morning read
How the four Today tiles are coloured, and where each line comes from
Green means inside the range its evidence calls ordinary. A grey dash means Verve has not measured it and will not guess. Sleep, resting rate and recovery are explained on their own pages; the sitting line belongs to Movement.
Each tile takes its colour from the figure it shows. Green means the reading is inside the range its evidence calls ordinary, amber that it has crossed one line, red that it has crossed a second. A grey dash means Verve has not measured it yet and will not guess. The rules, one per tile:
- Sleep — last night's hours asleep against the 7 to 9 hourrange. Amber under seven; ordinary text above nine, because a long night is worth noticing but is not a warning. The drift and regularity figures inside the tile's page keep their own scales.Sleep timing →
- Resting HR — the worse of two verdicts. Against your own 30-day median: amber around5 bpm above, red around10 above. Against the level itself: amber from 75, red from 80. Below your usual, and under 50, stay green on purpose — a rested morning and an endurance athlete both land there.Resting heart rate →
- Recovery — how far your heart rate fell in the first minute after the last workout. One cited line: red at a fall of 12 bpm or less, green above it. There is no amber, because no second line has been validated; the tile refuses to invent one.Heart rate recovery →
- Sitting — hours today with almost no stepping. Amber from 10.6 hours, red from 12, the same two ticks the Movement Balance bar draws.Movement balance →
Every number above is read from one thresholds file inside the app, the same file the tiles read, so this page and the tiles cannot disagree about where a line sits.
